Senior Accountant – French Entities (Bilbao)
Our client, an international industrial group within the mining and materials sector, is looking to hire a Senior Accountant to support its French legal entities from its Bilbao office.
This is a senior, hands-on role within a centralized finance function, with responsibility for ensuring full balance sheet accuracy, statutory compliance, and high-quality financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure accurate and compliant accounting records in line with IFRS and French GAAP
Own and reconcile the full balance sheet, including assets, liabilities, provisions, inventories, revenues, and expenses
Manage month-end and year-end closing processes
Coordinate financial reporting under Group standards and local statutory requirements
Support audits and liaise with external providers, auditors, and authorities
Prepare VAT and tax reporting
Requirements:
Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent
8+ years of experience in financial accounting or audit
Strong exposure to full balance sheet responsibilities
Solid knowledge of IFRS and French GAAP
Experience in international or industrial environments is a plus
Strong systems skills (SAP, reporting tools such as Tagetik, OneStream or Hyperion, and advanced Excel)
Fluency in French and English; Spanish is a plus
