We are engaging an experienced Quality Engineering contractor to embed quality thinking across our product teams and accelerate delivery of reliable software across web, Android, and iOS platforms. This role partners with developers, QE peers, and product stakeholders to drive shared ownership of quality, strengthen Playwright-based automated testing, and ensure fast, dependable feedback loops in our CI/CD pipelines. The contractor will contribute hands-on to raise the bar for testing practices throughout the development lifecycle.
• Advocate for whole-team quality and promote shared ownership of testing across engineering.
• Ask the questions that prevent late surprises — surface risks early in design, planning, and code reviews.
• Help teams ship small, safe releases by influencing testability and maintainability from the start.
• Collaborate with developers and QE peers on testing best practices, TDD, BDD, and continuous improvement.
• Build and maintain robust, scalable automated test suites in Playwright for web applications.
• Execute functional, exploratory, and regression testing across web, Android, and iOS platforms to ensure consistent quality across the customer experience.
• Integrate and maintain automated tests within CI/CD pipelines to ensure fast, reliable feedback loops.
• Perform both automated and exploratory testing to validate functionality, performance, and security.
• Track and report on key quality metrics such as automation coverage, defect leakage, and release readiness.
• Stay current with emerging frameworks, CI/CD tools, and agile practices, and apply those insights to the work.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to partner effectively across functions.
• 5+ years of software quality engineering experience, with strong hands-on automation skills.
• Strong grasp of agile practices (TDD, BDD, CI/CD) and modern development pipelines.
• Demonstrated expertise with Playwright, including building and maintaining production-grade test suites.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and JavaScript — this is the primary language environment for our automation work, and deep fluency is required over experience in other languages.
• Hands-on experience testing across web, Android, and iOS platforms.
• Proven ability to ramp quickly in a contractor capacity and deliver value with minimal onboarding.
• Knowledge of accessibility, performance, or security testing.
• ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL) certification.
