At Staffy, we are looking for a Data Engineer to join an exciting international project for a global sports marketing organization.
This role is focused on maintaining and supporting a production analytics platform used by multiple users to power business reporting. Rather than building new features from scratch, you'll ensure the platform remains reliable, secure, and operational by maintaining data pipelines, monitoring production systems, resolving incidents, and keeping the existing application stack up to date.
This is a part-time position (20 hours per week), ideal for an engineer who enjoys owning production systems and ensuring operational excellence.
Maintain and troubleshoot Python-based data ingestion pipelines, ensuring reliable daily operation.
Monitor, investigate, and quickly resolve production incidents affecting data ingestion and reporting.
Maintain dbt models and the Cube semantic layer that powers the analytics platform.
Manage monitoring, alerting, and overall reliability across an expanding ecosystem of source APIs.
Maintain the existing React and Tailwind frontend by applying dependency updates, security patches, and bug fixes.
Ensure authentication flows using Firebase Auth continue operating securely and reliably.
Maintain Stripe billing integrations and support related operational tasks.
Perform basic quality assurance across the platform to ensure system stability and reliability.
Collaborate with the client to prioritize operational improvements and production maintenance activities.
Strong experience with Python, particularly maintaining data ingestion pipelines and backend services.
Experience working with modern data engineering tools such as dbt, SQL, and data orchestration platforms.
Experience maintaining production systems running on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Knowledge of BigQuery and data warehouse environments.
Experience supporting and maintaining React applications.
Familiarity with authentication services such as Firebase Auth.
Experience maintaining production integrations with third-party APIs.
Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and incident resolution skills.
Ability to work independently and prioritize production issues in a client-facing environment.
Experience with Dagster for workflow orchestration.
Experience using dlt for data ingestion.
Knowledge of Cube or similar semantic layer technologies.
Experience working with Stripe integrations.
Background maintaining analytics or business intelligence platforms.
